Current Projects on the Farm

New Run-ins

One of our biggest projects on the farm right now is building a new run-in shed/grain room/hay loft storage barn!  All of our horses live outside 24/7, as we find this is best for them both physically and. mentally, so we like to make sure everyone has adequate shelter during inclement weather (even though some horses will stand out in the rain regardless of whether or not they have shelter *cough cough king*).

With our expanding herd, we wanted to add two more large shelters and another area for grain and hay storage.  This building will have two 12 by 12 run in shelters on either side of a 10 by 12 grain/blanket storage area in the middle.  The hay loft will be able to store around 100 bales of hay for easy feeding daily.

We are so excited for this barn to be completed and can't wait to share the finished project with you guys! And of course, can't wait for the ponies to enjoy their new shelters :)

Fencing

Fencing is a constant, ongoing project on our farm!  Whether we're replacing current fencing or putting up new paddocks, we're always trying to improve our paddocks and pastures.  Our farm is currently fenced with electric fencing which is quick and less expensive to put up, but can prove to be challenging in the winter (think branches falling, ice storms, and two plus feet of snow that can ground out wires).  We're working towards fencing in our whole property with wood fencing.  This is a BIG, expensive project so we will be doing in gradually as funding permits.  If you would like to help donate to our fencing fund it would be so greatly appreciated and make a huge difference in the lives of our equines!
